From October 6 to 21, the Rubí City Council and the municipal company PROURSA are holding a new edition of the "Hablemos de vivienda" activity cycle, coinciding with World Habitat Day (October 5). The aim is to foster public debate on housing issues with the participation of expert professionals.
The program will begin on October 6 at the Mestre Martí Tauler Municipal Library with the screening of the report "Ahogados por el alquiler" (Drowned by Rent) by RTVE, followed by a discussion moderated by lawyer Pablo Feu. This journalistic piece addresses the problem of housing access in several Spanish cities.
The central activity will take place on Friday, October 16, starting at 5 PM in Doctor Guardiet Square. It will include a round table on housing access difficulties and alternative models, with the participation of the Councilor for Housing, Jordi Arnáiz Moreno, representatives from COHABITAC, and the College of Real Estate Agents of Barcelona. Subsequently, the Office of Energy Rights (ODE) will offer a talk on the social electricity tariff and energy poverty, and the Housing Service and PROURSA will discuss aid and resources to facilitate housing access. The square will also host information booths from various entities and institutions.
On Sunday, October 18 at 11 AM, a guided tour titled "La arquitectura en Rubí a lo largo de su historia" (Architecture in Rubí throughout its history) will take place, exploring emblematic buildings of the city. Advance registration is required on the Rubí Guiem website.
The cycle will conclude on Wednesday, October 21 at 6 PM at the Rubí Forma building, with the conference "Vivienda y racismo inmobiliario: barreras, discriminaciones y acceso efectivo a derechos" (Housing and real estate racism: barriers, discrimination, and effective access to rights), delivered by Dilara Ekmen, co-director of the Catalan Commission for Refugee Aid (CCAR).
The Councilor for Housing, Jordi Arnáiz Moreno, has invited citizens to participate, highlighting the intention to offer a broader proposal of interest to the "Rubinenses," especially at a time when decrees have been approved to halt evictions and prevent speculative purchases. He emphasized that housing access is a social concern and that the cycle provides useful information on available resources.
The "Hablemos de vivienda" initiative was recognized last year as a significant practice by the Good Practices Bank of Local Governments, promoted by the Federation of Municipalities of Catalonia (FMC) and the Carles Pi i Sunyer Foundation, for its quality and innovative nature.
