The City Council of Rubí, in collaboration with the Consorci de Residus del Vallès Occidental, has begun distributing 'claki' containers to the city's educational centers to promote the collection of used cooking oil.

Approximately 600 families have joined the Rubiclak project, which now also includes the shop 100 Grams as a new collection point for used oil. This initiative seeks to facilitate and increase the separation of this household waste, which can have a significant environmental impact if not managed correctly, as a single liter can contaminate up to 10,000 liters of water.
Schools and institutes are not only collection points but also play a key role in environmental awareness, conveying to families the importance of separating waste both at home and in educational centers.
The project, initially launched by the AMPA of the Centre d’Educació Especial de Ca n’Oriol and currently managed by the entity APDIR, has a social and environmental impact. Full 'claki' containers are transported to special employment centers, where individuals with intellectual disabilities carry out the emptying and cleaning, creating training and employment opportunities. The recovered oil is subsequently transformed into biodiesel.
The campaign 'Small Gestures, Big Changes', promoted by the Consorci de Residus del Vallès Occidental, will reinforce the distribution of 'claki' containers and offer information on sustainability from October 8th to 15th at various locations in Rubí, including the plaça del Mercat Municipal, plaça d’Aragó, plaça de l’Estació, avinguda de Castellbisbal, and avinguda de Prat de la Riba.
Individuals interested in obtaining a free 'claki' can consult the location of all distribution points at https://www.rubi.cat/ca/temes/medi-ambient/residus/recicla/oli-cuina-usat.
