The initiative, supported by Ecoembes and Ecovidrio, aims to increase selective collection rates and make waste separation easier for households. The magnets, designed to be placed on refrigerators, visually show which waste belongs in each bin (packaging, paper and cardboard, glass, and organic).
The participating shops, located in the city center and surrounding urbanizations, will act as community hubs. Each establishment will have a display with free magnets and an informational poster about their collaboration, available while supplies last. Shopkeepers will also answer questions and encourage customers to improve their recycling habits.
The City Council specifically targets households that do not yet recycle or struggle with it, leveraging the trust and proximity of local shops to foster conversations about the importance of selective waste collection. Evaluation visits to participating businesses will take place in early December.
