The Bruixes del Nord collective held its traditional popular calçotada feast last Saturday at the Sala Polivalent del Nord in Sabadell, bringing together nearly 500 attendees for a festive, self-organized day.

From early morning, members of the organization began preparations to make the gathering possible, combining gastronomy, music, and community life. The event relies fundamentally on self-management and neighborhood participation at the Sala Polivalent del Nord in Sabadell.

"The first brigades came to set up the fire, and meanwhile, the rest of the organization was preparing everything. We primarily operate through self-management."

Júlia Garcia · Member of Bruixes del Nord
Almost 500 people participated in the calçotada, which offered classic, vegan, and children's menus at a popular price. Before lunch, a musical vermut was held outside with a DJ from the group, entertaining attendees who started arriving around 12:30 PM.

"People enjoyed it a lot; they had the vermut while we finished getting everything ready. Everything went very smoothly throughout the day."

Clara López · Event Organizer
This celebration is part of the collective's consolidated history, which notes that the first calçotada took place in 2017 for their 30th anniversary. The Bruixes del Nord are already planning their 40th-anniversary celebration, scheduled for next year, hinting that they are preparing “something different.”
