The CGT union has called an indefinite strike starting January 14 among workers at Axioma, the Viladecavalls company responsible for reusing surgical material for the main hospitals in the Barcelona province.

This stoppage, called by the sterilization department, could paralyze the supply of PPE protection gowns, surgical scrubs, and sterile surgical drapes to key centers such as Hospital de la Vall d’Hebron, Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, Hospital de Mollet, and Hospital de Bellvitge.
Axioma, located in the Viladecavalls Logistics Park, specializes in comprehensive healthcare support solutions. Its activity is crucial, as it also supplies aesthetic clinics and various primary care centers (CAP) in the Barcelona area.
The reasons for the strike, which will continue until a satisfactory solution is reached, stem from the staff's complaints about “work overload” and the “loss of purchasing power” of their wages, alongside the company's refusal to negotiate.

"The strikers are strongly determined to achieve a solution that ends the existing precariousness and demand that Axioma open negotiation channels, which are currently non-existent."
