Former ERC councilor in Sabadell, Gabriel Fernàndez, now at the helm of the Gent de Sabadell platform, is pushing for the creation of an independence front ahead of the 2027 municipal elections.

This initiative follows a period of significant changes in Fernàndez's political career. In 2023, ERC presented its candidacy for the Sabadell municipal elections with Sílvia Renom as number 2, also integrating Ramon Vidal and the core of Ara Sabadell. However, the results of May 28, 2023, gave an absolute majority to Marta Farrés's PSC, leading Fernàndez to reflect on the political future.

"The results oblige us all to reflect."

Subsequently, on September 15, 2025, Gabriel Fernàndez announced his departure from ERC, becoming a non-attached councilor in the Sabadell City Council. Shortly after, on November 14, 2025, he presented the new political platform Gent de Sabadell, which he now leads.
Now, with an eye on the 2027 elections, Fernàndez has expressed his desire to form a broad independence front. The Gent de Sabadell platform has shown interest in a possible joint list that could include formations such as Junts, Alhora, MEScat, and ID, seeking to unite forces for the next electoral contest in the Vallès city.
