During the past year, the Taina service assisted a total of 114 individuals —52 women and 62 men— from municipalities such as Sabadell, Terrassa, Rubí, and Cerdanyola. Of these, 97 received training and 70 secured contracts in ordinary companies, while 18 accessed Special Employment Centers (CET).
The organization recorded an 87% insertion rate within the SIOAS Program of the Generalitat, with a 100% job retention rate for those undergoing follow-up. Furthermore, Taina prospected 123 companies to generate new employment opportunities.
“"Sometimes we are pigeonholed and told: ‘you can't’"
Francisco Giraldo, 41, who works as a concierge in a civic center in Sabadell, argues that difficulties often stem from how the environment views people with intellectual disabilities, rather than the job itself. For him, work is an essential tool for independent living and emotional well-being.
Other success stories include Maria Sanz, 25, who combines work in restoration, volunteering, and studies, and Ulisses Moral, 32, who works in the customer service team at Zara in Manresa. Moral emphasizes the value of “professional recognition” and states that “People with intellectual disabilities can be equally efficient.”
Recently, Giraldo, Sanz, and Moral participated in the Som Capaços event, held at the Teatre Principal de Sabadell, marking the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, where the right to work and the importance of visibility were highlighted.
