The Sant Cugat del Vallès City Council has launched the process to establish an Energy Community in the municipality, aiming to place citizens at the core of the local energy transition.

The initiative originated from a request submitted to the Centre Neighborhood Council within the framework of the 2025 Participatory Budgets, which allocated an initial amount of 5,000 euros. The council provides technical support and initial momentum to facilitate the creation of a self-managed community, open to residents, businesses, and entities.
The Energy Community is designed as a democratic and participatory mechanism, supported by the entity ePlural. This model benefits both those who already have solar panels (managing surpluses) and those who do not, offering access to collective self-consumption of 100% renewable energy and direct savings on the electricity bill.
Following a first informative session held on December 10, the process continues with a crucial second meeting. This session is scheduled for January 29, at 6:30 PM, at the Casa de Cultura Auditorium, and will serve to define the next steps and establish the steering group.
