The departments of Interior and Public Security, along with hunting societies, the GEPIF, and Tragsa's wildlife control teams, have intensified captures in the high-risk zone, where 34 traps and 93 collective traps (pig brigs) have been installed, along with 351 enclosures to prevent animal movement.
The eradication operation involved 993 personnel this week, including Rural Agents, Mossos d’Esquadra, ADF, Tragsa, canine units, and local police. In the low-risk zone, 30 hunts were conducted with 659 hunters and 690 dogs.
The Department of Agriculture has confirmed 4 new positive cases of ASF in wild boars in the high-risk zone (3 in Sant Quirze del Vallès and 1 in Sant Cugat del Vallès). All detected cases correspond to remains of animals estimated to be over 5 months old.
The high-risk zone encompasses 19 municipalities, including Badia del Vallès, Barberà del Vallès, Cerdanyola del Vallès, Montcada i Reixac, Sabadell, Sant Cugat del Vallès, Sant Quirze del Vallès, and Terrassa. Of the 240 samples analyzed this week, 1.7% tested positive.
The public is urged to respect access restrictions to natural areas, not to feed wild boars, and to report any dead or symptomatic animals to 112 to help contain the outbreak.
