The Sant Quirze del Vallès City Council has launched a new study on air quality around the Parc de les Morisques. A mobile unit from the Diputació de Barcelona has been analyzing air pollution levels on Camí del Mas avenue since October 13th, in one of the municipality's most trafficked residential areas.

The mobile unit, which will remain at this location until December 22nd, is equipped with a weather station and instruments to analyze suspended particles, ozone, and nitrogen oxides. The collected data will provide a more precise understanding of the area's pollution levels and their evolution over time.
The chosen location is one of the sections with the highest vehicle traffic within the residential areas of Sant Quirze. This study complements previous measurement campaigns that had already indicated elevated pollution levels in this zone, which, although within current legal limits, occasionally exceed the levels recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).
Air pollution studies are essential for identifying potential health risks and planning measures to reduce emissions. Comparing results over the years also helps evaluate the evolution of air quality and the effectiveness of municipal actions. The Municipal Traffic Ordinance of 2020 already designated this sector as a low-emission zone to minimize environmental impact.
