The program, which begins on Thursday, October 1st and runs until the 30th, will offer activities in various locations within the municipality, aiming to promote activity, well-being, and social connections among the elderly.
The initiative will kick off with a poetry recital by Josep Pedrals on Thursday, October 1st, at 6 PM in the Sala Josep Brossa. The following day, Friday the 2nd, a healthy walk will take place, starting at 10:30 AM from the Pont de la Betzuca.
Throughout the month, highlights include open tai chi and mindfulness workshops, as well as activities like “Emociona’t”, the workshop “The gesture as the engine of dance” with Montse Colomé, and a zumba and online dance masterclass.
Culture will play a significant role with concerts, cinema, cine-forums, theater, sardanas, conferences, chess games, a botifarra contest, an intergenerational Rummikub afternoon, and a cultural excursion to Reus modernista.
One of the established events is the Senior Citizens' Month entities' lunch on Tuesday, October 6th, featuring music by Café Trio.
The tribute to nonagenarians and centenarians will also be celebrated on Saturday, October 17th, with a performance by the cello duo Marta Roma and company. This year, 61 residents are reaching these ages: 3 centenarians and 58 nonagenarians.
The Senior Citizens' Month will conclude on October 30th with the celebration of the Castanyada (Chestnut Festival) at the Casal Serra de Galliners and the Sala Muriel Casals. The day will also include a concert by Filippo Dall’asta Quartet & Laura Fisas in the Sala Josep Brossa.
Activities will take place in various facilities and spaces within the municipality. Some require prior registration or reservation, with limited places allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Activities will also be held at local residences, open to families.
