The incidents occurred during the protest called by anti-fascist and pro-independence left-wing groups, who gathered outside the industrial warehouse where the far-right group was holding its inauguration. Police sources confirmed to the EFE Agency that the six injured officers suffered multiple contusions, and one sustained a fractured finger.
The organization Núcleo Nacional, linked to neo-Nazi circles, had initially announced its arrival in Barcelona but kept the location secret until a few hours before the start. The event finally took place in a warehouse in an industrial estate in Sentmenat, a municipality located about 30 kilometers from the Catalan capital.
Around 150 militants and sympathizers of the group gathered inside the venue, while outside, several hundred anti-fascist demonstrators, called by groups such as Arran and the Sindicat d’Estudiants dels Països Catalans (SEPC), responded to the call.
Tension escalated when some of the protesters outside attempted to approach the venue, encountering a police cordon formed by units of the Brigada Mòbil. According to the Mossos, a group of youths threw stones, sticks, and flares, in addition to pushing containers against the deployed officers.
The operation was designed precisely to prevent clashes between antagonistic groups, a scenario that security forces considered probable since the event was announced.
The Catalan police responded with charges to disperse the demonstrators and move them away from the perimeter of the event, thus preventing direct contact with the inauguration attendees. Despite the violence recorded, the Mossos d’Esquadra confirmed that no arrests were made during the incidents.
