In the quarterfinals, Costa and Daniela Rodríguez were decisive in the women's doubles against Japan (2-0). In the semifinals, they eliminated the reigning champion, Italy, defeating the world number 1 pair, Giulia Gasparri and Ninny Valentini, in a thrilling match resolved in the super tie-break (4-6, 6-4, and [10-7]).
The title was decided in the mixed doubles of the final against Brazil. After the match was tied 1-1, the pair formed by Antomi Ramos and Ariadna Costa defeated Andre Baran and Rafaella Miller, thus securing the historic gold medal for Spain.
