The Terrassa Municipal Police intercepted an electric scooter driver traveling over 70 km/h and running several red lights early on Wednesday, December 17, in District 1.

A patrol unit of the Terrassa Municipal Police conducting preventive surveillance in District 1 witnessed the incident around 12:30 AM on December 17. Agents observed the Personal Mobility Vehicle (VMP) significantly exceeding the speed limit allowed in urban areas and ignoring traffic signals.
Due to the reckless driving, officers stopped the driver, identified them, and issued a fine for speeding and running a red light. Furthermore, the scooter was confiscated and taken to the municipal depot in Egarvia.

If a Personal Mobility Vehicle exceeds 25 km/h, it ceases to be classified as a VMP and falls into the moped category, which requires a driving license, registration, and mandatory insurance.

This action is supported by Terrassa's new ordinance regulating the circulation of people and vehicles on urban roads, developed by the City Council's Mobility Service. This ordinance replaces the 1996 regulation and specifically governs the use of electric scooters.
