According to the experimental data from the Catalan Institute of Statistics (Idescat), Sabadell is ranked seventh with 31,852 euros gross annual salary, slightly above the Catalan average (31,746 euros). Conversely, Terrassa falls to thirteenth position with 29,988 euros, placing it below the Catalonia average. This difference between the two capitals of the Vallès Occidental reaches 1,864 euros.
The ranking of municipalities with over 50,000 inhabitants is led by another Vallès locality, Sant Cugat del Vallès, which records average salaries of 54,549 euros, more than 22,000 euros above the regional average. It is followed by Castelldefels (38,570 euros) and Barcelona (36,466 euros). Rubí, another municipality in the area, is in fifteenth position with 29,558 euros.
The report also details salary differences by gender and age in Terrassa. Men aged 45 to 54 have the highest incomes (37,039 euros), but women in the same bracket earn 31,637 euros, showing a gap of over 6,000 euros. The 30 to 44 age group also shows a significant difference, with 32,206 euros for men and 27,987 euros for women.
The gap based on nationality is even more pronounced, with a 9,000 euro difference between Terrassa residents with Spanish nationality (31,083 euros) and those of foreign origin (22,360 euros). Foreign women are the most affected, with an average of 19,912 euros. Regarding sectors, the best-paid are Public Administration, Defense, and compulsory SS (39,124 euros) and Communications, financial, and real estate activities (38,987 euros).
