The Central Library of Terrassa (BCT) is hosting the traveling exhibition 'Gara and the energy surrounding us' until February 20, organized by IREC, to disseminate the importance of energy transition.

The exhibition, titled Gara and the energy surrounding us, is divided into five main sections covering key concepts such as measuring electricity consumption, thermal insulation, renewable solar energy generation, hydrogen as an energy vector, and energy efficiency. The Catalonia Institute for Energy Research (IREC), a CERCA center affiliated with the Generalitat, is dedicated to research and technological development in the energy field.
One of the initiative's highlights is the four mobile educational laboratories, presented as pedagogical suitcases. These contain interactive materials and experiments that allow students to learn practically and playfully about energy and sustainability. These kits are distributed free of charge to educational centers, bringing science directly into the classrooms.

"The energy transition involves the socialization of the proper use of energy and a process of cultural change that begins with education, from the youngest to adults of all ages."

Terrassa City Council · Municipal Sources
The Terrassa City Council emphasizes that the exhibition seeks to convey the importance of energy transition in the current context of climate change, improving general scientific and technical knowledge about energy.
This educational initiative is part of the municipal campaign Promotion of Energy Communities in Terrassa. This campaign aims to encourage the creation of local energy communities, collective self-consumption, and citizen participation by granting the use of municipal photovoltaic installations.
