The signing of Sergio Cortés Zamorano (Badalona, 1993) by Terrassa FC has been the most notable move of the winter market. The midfielder, who was captain of CE Sabadell, the eternal rival, requested his departure due to a reduction in playing time in Primera Federación. Now, fate has dictated that his first major match as a Terrassa player will be the Vallès derby of the Copa Catalunya against his former club.
The player expressed his satisfaction with his first days at the club, highlighting his quick adaptation thanks to having previously played with teammates like Jaime Barrero, Marcos, and Gil at Llagostera and Badalona. Furthermore, his debut was excellent, scoring a goal in the victory against València Mestalla.
I have found a committed team, with a lot of quality and a lot of hunger, but I am one of those who think we must set short-term goals and demand excellence every day.
Cortés emphasized that the presence of Oriol Alsina, with whom he had previously worked in two spells at Llagostera and Badalona Futur, was “absolutely key” to his decision. According to the footballer, Alsina provides excellent group management and personalized treatment that gives “confidence and freedom within an order.”
Regarding what he can contribute to Terrassa FC, the midfielder highlights his experience, character, and versatility, as he can play in the double pivot, on the wing, or as an attacking midfielder. Regarding the derby, he assures that, despite the feelings generated by facing friends, the objective is clear: winning the title.
“"They want the Cup, I know that, and I want to win it with Terrassa FC. May the best team win."
