The municipal government of Terrassa announced on Thursday, January 8, that it will file an appeal against the Generalitat for rejecting its "Connectem Can Parellada" project in the 2025 edition of the Pla de Barris (Neighborhood Plan).

The exclusion of Terrassa from the twenty selected municipalities receiving aid for rehabilitation and social cohesion was made public on December 19, when President Salvador Illa announced the beneficiaries during an event in Mataró.
Mayor Jordi Ballart immediately expressed regret, emphasizing that the project maintained a "good balance between the three areas of action – physical, ecological, and socio-community transformation – required by the call."

"We trust that this decision does not respond in any case to political criteria, but to a strictly technical assessment applied with objective and equitable parameters compared to the rest of the projects presented by other municipalities."

The determination to appeal the 2025 edition was communicated after a meeting at the Terrassa City Council between Deputy Mayor for Territory, Xavier Cardona, and the Councilman for Territorial Structure, Alberto Muñoz, with the Generalitat's Pla de Barris Commissioner, Carles Martí.
After reviewing the assessment criteria, Cardona confirmed the council's intention to apply for future calls under the same Neighborhood Law and reaffirmed the "commitment to the improvement of the Can Parellada neighborhood" using internal resources for strategic projects.
