This year's event, which will not be able to use Masia Freixa or MNACTEC due to renovation works, will involve 178 citizen entities and over 800 performances. The fair aims to consolidate its position as the grand celebration of industrial modernism in Catalonia, offering a unique and distinctive program.
“"Modernism is associated with local identity and historical memory, and the fair offers a unique and very singular program, which has positioned itself year after year as the great celebration of industrial modernism in Catalonia."
The central figure of this edition will be Alexandre de Riquer (1856-1920), a prominent multifaceted artist with strong ties to Terrassa. The inaugural show, titled The Dream of a Spring Night in Alexandre de Riquer's Terrassa, will take place on Friday, May 8, in the gardens and interior of Casa Alegre de Sagrera, where the artist's paintings are still preserved.
The fair will also extend throughout the city, seeking to create synergies between heritage and the local economy. Thousands of informative fans will be distributed, and commercial establishments will be authorized to open on Sunday, May 10, to promote local products and restaurants. Nearly 100 craft and food stalls will be set up in the streets, with key locations such as the Mercat de la Independència and the Taverna Obrera in the Plaça de la Torre del Palau.
Among the 330 scheduled activities, highlights include unprecedented proposals such as the recreation of a 1919 rehearsal by the Orfeó Montserrat and the installation of a two-story vintage carousel in the Parc dels Catalans. Additionally, there will be itinerant shows, historical reenactments, traditional craft demonstrations, open days at heritage sites, and 'casteller' performances on Saturday, May 9.
To compensate for the interior closures of Masia Freixa and MNACTEC, new guided tours have been added, including two specific routes about Riquer's connection to Terrassa and three family-oriented itineraries. To facilitate navigation through the program, a new intuitive website with a search engine and interactive maps has been launched, which will also be the main channel for the traditional Instagram contest.
