Following the start with the Borriquita and Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, April 2nd, will see the prominent Procession of the Encounter, commencing at 7:30 PM from the parish of Santa Maria de les Arenes. The route will pass through streets such as Joan XXIII, Tibidabo, Ordal, and Sierra Nevada, showcasing the dedication of three brotherhoods to preserve this tradition.
The procession will be led by Nuestro Padre Jesús Cautivo and María Santísima de las Arenas, accompanied by the 'Niños de luz' (Children of Light), who carry electronic candles. This year's edition is notable for the debut of the 'Cruz de Guía' (Guide Cross), a piece representing the three floats, which will be preceded by the rhythm of a batucada.
The float of the Nazareno carries significant sentimental weight this year, as the Hermandad has recovered six lanterns from the old processions of Ca n'Anglada from 60 years ago. Additionally, a prior transfer of the image to Ca n'Anglada square has been established, allowing the faithful to bid farewell before the float proceeds to Les Arenes.
For the float of the Virgen de las Angustias, most of the penitents are women, with only one man and one child. The Cofradía has increased the number of mantillas, and the float is carried equally by men and women. Last year, the Virgin could not be lifted due to a lack of bearers, but this year it will be possible.
“"We are happy because this year more people are involved in the procession, when normally the number tends to decrease."
In contrast to the neighborhood's fervor, Good Friday will bring solemnity to the Center of Terrassa. Starting at 8:00 PM, the traditional Via Crucis will commemorate the Passion and Death of Jesus Christ. This edition is special, marking 20 years since the recovery of this tradition in the city.
From the Catedral del Sant Esperit, Father Carles Cahuana highlights the major novelty: the procession of the Santo Entierro (Holy Burial) float, an image that has not participated in the procession since 1969. The celebration will conclude with the Passion of the Lord at midday, presided over by Bishop Salvador Cristau.
