The Terrassa City Council will begin planting 645 new trees in green areas and roadways across all districts during 2026, as part of the urban green reinforcement plan.

The plan, developed by the municipal Green Spaces service, primarily aims to replace trees lost in recent years, especially due to drought and adverse weather phenomena. The actions will be distributed equally, with plantings scheduled in all seven city districts.

"They not only beautify the urban space, but also cool the environment with their shade, purify the air, reduce noise pollution, enhance biodiversity, and provide well-being and health to the citizens."

Montserrat Alba · Councillor for Green Spaces
The district with the most plantings will be District 7, with 102 trees, followed by District 2, with 86. Specific locations where the effort will be concentrated include the Camí dels Monjos and the Plaça d'Ibèria, with 20 trees each, and the Carrer de l'Aurora, with 13.
This initiative seeks to continue the work started in 2025, when 900 trees were already planted to begin reversing the negative trend. The state of drought emergency had previously hindered new plantings, as adequate irrigation could not be guaranteed.
