African swine fever continues to be a concern in Vallès, and to prevent its spread to other areas, preventive measures are being implemented. Since last Thursday, Viladecavalls has seen the placement of provisional metal fences on its main routes. These structures are designed to hinder the passage of wild boars, as they do not leave enough space for easy movement.
In addition to the fences, other containment elements are being installed at strategic points that wild boars might use to travel, such as streams, ravines, paths, and roads. Specifically, the fences have been placed on Avinguda del Ferrocarril, at the roundabout under the C-58 bridge, and in the ravines above the B-40 and the Riera de Gaià.
“"Once the outbreak is deemed over, these elements will be removed."
Although neighboring Terrassa is considered a low-risk area, these actions aim to prevent the free movement of wild boars from contributing to the disease's spread. The detection of a new positive case in Castellbisbal last Wednesday led to the expansion of the high-risk zone, which now covers almost all of Vallès Occidental.
