A delegation from Vallès Oriental visited Banyoles, in the Pla de l'Estany region, on a technical trip to learn about benchmark experiences in cycle tourism.

The Tourism Service of the Consell Comarcal del Vallès Oriental organized a technical benchmarking trip to Banyoles last Tuesday to gain firsthand knowledge of successful initiatives related to cycle tourism. The event brought together a delegation of public and private companies and entities from the tourism sector of Vallès Oriental.
The objective was to discover initiatives that have established Banyoles as a leading destination for bicycle-related tourism. The program combined the public perspective, through the municipality's strategy, with the experience of companies specializing in accommodation, catering, services for cyclists, and sports facilities.
Participants learned how a complete cycle tourism ecosystem is structured and identified transferable ideas and best practices for their businesses and territories. The cycle tourism development model promoted by the Banyoles City Council, business models targeting cyclists, and the role of sports facilities as tourism drivers were analyzed.
During the day, various sector-related businesses and experiences were visited, including Can Campolier - Rocacorba Cycling, the Banyoles City Council, the Club Natació Banyoles, Apartaments La Carpa i Restaurant La Carpa de l’Estany, and Cafè i Rental Bikes l’Aquarium.
Banyoles combines a unique natural environment, with its lake as the main identifying feature, with a wide range of activities linked to nature, culture, and sport, positioning itself as a reference destination for cycling.
This initiative by the Consell Comarcal contributes to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) number 3 “Good Health and Well-being”, 8 “Decent Work and Economic Growth”, and 11 “Sustainable Cities and Communities”, within the framework of Agenda 2030.
