The Spanish Government delegate in Catalonia, Carlos Prieto, met with the president of the Consell Comarcal del Vallès Oriental, Emilio Cordero, and mayors from the region to discuss state aid for repairing damage caused by the floods on October 4th and 5th.

The meeting, held yesterday afternoon at the Consell Comarcal headquarters, allowed for a first-hand understanding of the extent of the damage caused by the torrential rains and informed municipal representatives about the state aid lines planned for the recovery of areas severely affected by civil protection emergencies.
According to the Government Delegation, the meeting is part of the Spanish Government's commitment to maintain direct dialogue with town councils and support local administrations in the recovery of territories affected by intense rainfall. Delegate Carlos Prieto assured that the Executive is working to help affected municipalities return to normality as soon as possible, emphasizing that "the necessary resources will be allocated".
Prieto explained that the Spanish Government is working on declaring the area as severely affected by a civil protection emergency, which will enable extraordinary aid to be activated. He remarked that "I have no doubt that this declaration will occur," although the exact date cannot yet be specified. The restoration of public services and municipal facilities is a priority, and the Delegation will provide information on available aid channels, application procedures, and corresponding amounts.
The president of the Consell Comarcal, Emilio Cordero, highlighted that the meeting brought together municipalities in Vallès Oriental with the most significant impacts, including Canovelles, Granollers, Lliçà de Vall, Lliçà d’Amunt, Cardedeu, la Roca del Vallès, Montornès del Vallès, les Franqueses del Vallès, and Vilanova del Vallès. He thanked the support received and stressed that "we have not been alone" from the administrations.
Also present at the meeting were the mayor of Granollers, Alba Barnusell; the mobility councilor of Granollers, Juanma Segovia; the mayor of Lliçà de Vall, Xavier Castillejo; the mayor of Lliçà d’Amunt, David Morales; the mayor of Cardedeu, Xavier Orozco; the mayor of la Roca del Vallès, Marta Pujol; the mayor of Montornès del Vallès, José Antonio Montero; the mayor of les Franqueses del Vallès, Juan Antonio Corchado; and the deputy mayor of Vilanova del Vallès, Abelardo López.
This initiative contributes to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 11 "Sustainable cities and communities", 16 "Peace, justice and strong institutions", and 17 "Partnerships for the goals", demonstrating the Consell Comarcal's commitment to working within the framework of Agenda 2030.
