A lateral section of a bridge on the R3 commuter rail line collapsed this Saturday in La Garriga onto Onze de Setembre Avenue during ongoing track doubling works.

No injuries were reported following the incident, although the street remains closed to both vehicles and pedestrians due to debris. Local authorities have criticized Adif, the railway infrastructure manager, for safety failures during the construction process.

"Adif must give explanations and assume responsibilities immediately. They have left the works half-finished without guaranteeing safety."

The R3 line has been facing significant disruptions, with the section between L'Hospitalet and La Garriga closed since January. This collapse follows other recent issues, including a rockfall that blocked tracks near Vic earlier this week.
