The Clinical Trials Unit at the Hospital General de Granollers has surpassed 50 ongoing medical studies, solidifying its trajectory since its establishment in 2024. This research activity spans various specialties, including allergology, vascular surgery, dermatology, oncohematology, oncology, pediatrics, pneumology, rheumatology, traumatology, and urology. Dermatology stands out, hosting 22 of these studies.
This initiative facilitates access to innovative treatments and advanced therapeutic options for the over 470,000 inhabitants of Vallès Oriental, reducing the need for travel to Barcelona. Participation in these trials offers access to developing drugs and strategies under strict safety and quality controls, while also contributing to the advancement of clinical practice.
Dr. Núria Rudi, Deputy Medical Director and Head of the Pharmacy Service, highlights that clinical research provides development and training opportunities for professionals, enabling access to new knowledge and its transfer into daily practice. The unit is supported by a specialized team of coordinating nurses and research support staff.
The increase in clinical trials also enhances the hospital's capacity to attract new projects and collaborate with pharmaceutical companies and research organizations. This activity fosters alliances within the biomedical industry, secures resources, and promotes the decentralization of research, ensuring more equitable access to healthcare innovation in the region.
