The streets of Mollet's old town will be the setting for the 42nd edition of the Craft Fair, one of the most visited and prestigious in Catalonia. This year's fair will bring together 78 stalls, of which 51 will be dedicated to crafts and 27 to food products. Of these, 7 are from Mollet and the rest come from other parts of Catalonia. Additionally, 17 new stalls are being introduced compared to previous editions.
Visitors can find a wide range of artisan products, including ceramics, porcelain, stationery, leather goods, silk, wood, jewelry, or candles. In the gastronomic section, highlights include products such as oils, honey, nuts, nougat, bread, sweets, wines, cured meats, anchovies, or cheeses.
To ensure the quality of the event, only authentic artisan producers are allowed to participate. This is evident in the craft demonstrations, where artisans showcase their work and allow public participation through family workshops in ceramics and papyrocraft.
The official inauguration will take place on Friday, September 18th at 7 PM at the La Marineta Cultural Center. Following this, the traditional sardine feast will be held in the Plaça de la Artesanía, with bread and wine for attendees.
This year, the fair commemorates the 30th anniversary of its emblematic giants, Tòfol and Dinga, with a participatory initiative: a collective crochet floor weaving open to all citizens. Furthermore, the residents of the Fair have decorated the streets with recycled fabrics, adding color and creativity to the space.
The origin of the Craft Fair dates back to 1984, when the group Tertúlia organized the first edition on Carrer dels Fems, with a rustic ambiance and community involvement. The Mollet City Council later joined to promote this citizen initiative.
