The City Council of Molins de Rei held an event last Thursday to welcome the new officers joining the Local Police force. The municipality is adding 7 interim officers to bolster security services. The event, attended by Mayor Xavi Paz and Councillor for Citizen Security and Civil Protection, Miquel Zaragoza, also included three trainee officers who have joined after completing their course at the Catalonia Police School. During the meeting, officers exchanged views with municipal officials on issues related to security, coexistence, and civic behavior.
Concurrently, two processes are underway to strengthen the force's command structure. Firstly, an internal process has been initiated to fill a sergeant position, aiming to reinforce the command structure. Secondly, the municipal plenary session in April approved a new inspector position to prepare for the succession of the current head of the Local Police, who is nearing retirement.
Improvements to facilities are also progressing. The future local police station will be located on Francesc Layret street, in the former building of the Joan N. García-Nieto Employment and Business Services Centre. This new location will provide facilities adapted to the current and future needs of the force. The relocation will also allow for a new use of the current police station's space, where a housing development is planned.
