The streets of the old town of Mollet will be the setting for the 42nd Craft Fair, one of the most visited and prestigious in Catalonia. The fair will take place from September 18th to 20th and will bring together nearly 80 stalls of authentic artisan producers. The official inauguration will be held on Friday the 18th at 7:00 PM at the Centre Cultural La Marineta.
In this edition, the fair will feature 78 stalls, of which 51 will be dedicated to crafts and 27 to food. Of these, 7 stalls are from Mollet, while the rest will come from other parts of Catalonia. 17 new stalls are being incorporated compared to previous editions.
Visitors will find a wide variety of products, such as ceramics, porcelain, stationery, leather goods, silk, wood, jewelry, and candles. In the gastronomic sector, oils, honey, nuts, nougat, bread, sweets, wines, cured meats, anchovies, and cheeses will be offered.
To ensure the quality of the fair, only certified artisan producers can participate. This is evident in the craft demonstrations, where artisans showcase their work and allow public participation through demonstrations and family workshops in ceramics and papercraft.
After the inauguration, at the plaça de l’Artesania, the local community will organize the traditional sardine barbecue, accompanied by a slice of bread and a glass of wine.
This year, the fair commemorates the 30th anniversary of its emblematic giants, en Tòfol i la Dinga, with a participatory initiative open to all citizens: a collective crochet sun weaving.
The street decorations have been carried out by the local residents, who have used recycled fabrics to embellish the streets with color and creativity.
The origin of the Craft Fair dates back to 1984, when the group Tertúlia organized the first edition in Carrer dels Fems, with rural elements and the involvement of the local community. Later, the Mollet City Council joined the initiative to promote it.
