The Generalitat Firefighters are leading a major search operation in Llinars del Vallès to find a driver whose van was swept away by the Mogent River on Friday afternoon.

Specialized units, including GRAE mountain and underwater rescue teams, are currently scouring a five-kilometer stretch of the riverbank. The search, which began yesterday, now involves drones and canine units focusing on vulnerable points downstream from where the vehicle was lost.
The driver was caught by the current while attempting to cross a bridge near the Flamagas factory, despite it being closed by the Local Police. The victim managed to call a relative to report that water was entering the cabin and he was unable to escape before the signal was lost.

"The stream took the van in just a few minutes. It is a point where the stream narrows and you cannot control the passing water."

Martí Pujol · Mayor of Llinars del Vallès
Mayor Martí Pujol stated that the driver was not a local resident and likely took a wrong turn. Authorities are monitoring weather conditions to determine if aerial support can be added to the rescue efforts later today.
