The Assemblea Educativa de Catalunya has agreed to call a strike in public centers for next September 8, coinciding with the first day of the school year, with the aim of demanding improvements in the public education system.

The decision was made at a meeting held in Sant Celoni, which was attended by representatives from unions such as USTEC, CGT, Intersindical CNT, and COS, entities with the capacity to call the strike.
The spokesperson for the AEC, Mònica Rodrigo, stated that, despite the Departament d'Educació's claims of a start to the academic year "with normality," the reality will be different. She emphasized the desire not to wait until the start of the course to begin discussions.
For this reason, the assembly urges the Government to "urgently" convene the negotiation table with the strike committee. The objective is to achieve "consensus and an improvement of the public system" in education.
