The latest data from the Population and Housing Census, referenced in 2025, reveals that Granollers has 16.92% of its population of foreign origin. This figure, representing 11,021 people, places the Vallès capital only behind Canovelles, which leads the list with 20.8%.
This percentage marks a one-point increase compared to 2024, when the foreign population in Granollers was 10,021 people, constituting 15.68% of the total migrants in Vallès Oriental. Demographic growth is a generalized trend in the region, which has seen over 1% population increase and currently has 428,782 inhabitants.
The 11,021 foreign-born individuals in Granollers represent 23% of this group across the entire region. Other municipalities with a notable presence include Mollet, with 15.82% (7,580 people), and Canovelles, with 7.57% (3,629 people). In total, the percentage of residents with foreign nationality in Vallès Oriental is 11.13%, totaling 47,921 people, while 68% of the regional population was born in Catalonia, according to the Observatori-Centre d'Estudis del Consell Comarcal.
The region hosts over 110 different nationalities. The Moroccan community is the most numerous, with 10,005 people, representing one in four foreign-born individuals. They are followed by the population from Colombia (3,489 people) and Senegal (3,012 people). Significant increases are also observed in residents originating from China (1,989 people), Italy (1,854 people), and Ukraine (1,110 people).
Regarding Les Franqueses, the municipality records 2,571 foreign-born residents, accounting for 5.37% of the region's migrants and 12.33% of its total population, positioning it as the fourth municipality with the most migrant population.
