In her final institutional address, Ribell offered a critical analysis of the current political climate, pointing to a spiral of individualism, excessive capitalism, rearmament, and politicized judicial decisions that disregard collective values. She argued that politics must reflect the decency of the people and the freedom to pursue personal and collective dreams.
“"We must start anew with confrontation with the State for what is ours and what belongs to us, and for what we decided together."
Mònica Ribell explained that her decision to leave office does not mean abandoning politics, but rather transitioning to activism, which she considers one of the two fundamental axes of Catalan politics, alongside municipalities. She highlighted the role of local councils as key elements for understanding daily reality and improving coexistence.
Finally, the former councilor stressed the need to articulate an inspiring country, insisting on industrial and commercial policies that protect the middle class and the self-employed. She also called for the construction of new mobility axes connecting inland Catalonia without relying on Barcelona, and strengthening the economic potential of the Vallesos region.
