The Plenary session of the La Llagosta City Council yesterday, Monday, initially and unanimously approved the Urban Green Plan. The municipality, spanning 3.03 km² with a high population density, suffers from a deficit of urban green spaces. For this reason, the City Council requested support from the Barcelona Provincial Council for the drafting of this plan.
The plan's objective was to achieve an updated diagnosis of the urban green infrastructure, including inventory, management units, cartography, and the management of conservation and maintenance, as well as the budgetary management allocated to these tasks.
The Barcelona Provincial Council drafted the document during the years 2024 and 2025 and has now delivered it to the City Council. The document incorporates the diagnosis of the current state, technical design and management criteria, inventory, strategic objectives, and proposals for action and investment.
The Councilor for Strategic Planning and Urbanism, Marc Ruiz, highlighted that the Urban Green Plan "is part of the Green Ring project, which will define the La Llagosta of the future, a green town more adapted to climate change".
During the plenary session, the Plan for the delimitation of forest fire prevention measures in urbanizations and population centers located on forest land was also initially approved, also with the support of the Barcelona Provincial Council.
Likewise, the Institutional Manifesto for October 1st, International Day of Older Persons, read by the Councilor for Older Persons, Eva Villanueva, was approved. The authorized commercial opening holidays for 2027 were also approved, which will be September 10th and December 5th.
Finally, the content and signing of the agreement between the General Directorate of LGBTI+ Public Policies, the Consell Comarcal del Vallès Oriental, and the La Llagosta City Council to develop the local LGBTI+ Information Point were approved, a service that has been offered in La Llagosta since 2020.
All items on the agenda were approved unanimously. Before the plenary session, a minute of silence was observed for the six women recently murdered.
