The L'Ametlla del Vallès Town Council has reaffirmed its commitment to the OnCodines Trail, a team event featuring walking and cycling routes. This seventh edition will have the municipality as its focal point, serving as the starting point for all routes, for both runners and walkers, which will conclude in Sant Feliu de Codines. The various routes, spanning fifteen municipalities across four counties, include walking and cycling modalities.
L'Ametlla del Vallès has been part of the OnCodines Trail since its inception, hosting participants and contributing to the cause. The Councillor for Sports, Marc Palau, conveyed the municipality's continued support to the initiative's director, Lluís Vilalta, during a meeting in mid-September. L'Ametlla serving as the starting point this year presents an opportunity for residents to experience the atmosphere of a well-established solidarity challenge in the Vallès Oriental region.
The main objective of the OnCodines Trail and its parallel activities is to raise funds for the fight against cancer, entirely dedicated to the foundations Oncovallès, the Institut Guttmann, and the Fundació Enriqueta Villavecchia. In 2026, over 303,000 euros were raised, and the goal for this edition is to reach 500,000 euros.
Three walking and running routes are proposed, starting from L'Ametlla del Vallès: the M1 (48 km and +1,430 m), the M2 (49 km and +1,500 m), and the L (80 km and +2,261 m), the latter exclusively for runners.
As a new feature, the 2027 edition introduces the OnCodines Bike, a team and relay event for MTB, gravel, or electric bicycles. This modality will cover a distance of 107 km, to be completed within a maximum of 12 hours, starting in Santa Eulàlia de Ronçana, passing through L'Ametlla, and finishing in Sant Feliu de Codines.
Registrations are now open at www.oncodinestrail.cat, with over 100 teams registered in the first two days. Registration is free thanks to sponsors and becomes final upon the team raising 200 euros in donations. Teams must complete the route and make a donation that goes entirely to cancer research: 500 euros for OnCodines Trail (up to 4 people) or 700 euros (5-6 people), and 300 euros for OnCodines Bike (2-3 people) or 400 euros (4 people).
Furthermore, on March 14, the fifth edition of La Petita OnCodines will take place, for children up to 15 years old and families with children aged 0 to 7. Registrations will open on November 7, with voluntary contributions; the 2026 edition raised 7,000 euros. On November 22, the Sant Miquel 360 will be held, an individual and competitive race of 15 or 21 km, starting in Bigues i Riells del Fai and finishing in Sant Feliu de Codines.
