The Bellavista Auditorium Theatre hosted the constitution session of the Children's Council for the 2026-2027 academic year. This municipal body, established last year, aims to bring children's perspectives into local policy.
The event was presided over by the mayor, Juan Antonio Corchado Ponce, accompanied by the Council's vice-presidents: Councillor for Children, Mar Gallego Garrido, and Councillor for Education, José Antonio Aguilera Galera. This initial session introduced the 18 councillors, who are 5th and 6th-grade students from the municipality's schools.
The mayor tasked the Council with working on healthy habits and contributing their insights to municipal policies in this area. "Your vision is as important as that of any other citizen of Les Franqueses, and it is important that we gradually incorporate it into all the actions the City Council undertakes. You are an important part of the population, and we must take you into account," stated Corchado.
The councillors pledged to propose initiatives to promote healthy habits within the municipality. An initial proposal involves creating a monthly calendar with healthy habit recommendations, identifying improvements and deteriorations over the year, discovering activities or behaviors that foster healthy habits, and working on healthy social relationships.
