A 51-year-old woman residing in Igualada died Wednesday afternoon following a collision between a car and a truck on the AP-7 highway near Sant Celoni, heading north.

The deceased victim, identified as M.B.G., was the front passenger of the car involved in the incident, which occurred around 3:47 PM in the municipality of Sant Celoni (Vallès Oriental). The causes of the accident are currently under investigation by the Mossos d’Esquadra police force.
As a result of the crash, another woman sustained less serious injuries and was transferred to the Hospital Josep Trueta in Girona by the Sistema d’Emergències Mèdiques (SEM). Additionally, two men were treated at the scene and discharged in situ.

Since the beginning of the year, 139 people have lost their lives in accidents on Catalan interurban roads, according to the Catalan Traffic Service.

The incident required the closure of two northbound lanes of the AP-7 (towards Girona), causing significant traffic jams starting from Vallgorguina and affecting the entire area. Five patrols of the Mossos d’Esquadra, four units of the Bombers de la Generalitat, and seven SEM units were activated for the emergency response.
