The event, presided over by mayor Eduard Vallhonesta and naturalist Martí Boada, highlighted Saurí's combination of technical knowledge, professional experience, and direct land management.
Josep Maria Saurí Abella, an agronomist by training, has a long-standing connection to the forestry and farming world. His experience spans both private and public sectors, including nine years at the Barcelona Provincial Council and continuous involvement in representative sector organizations.
His forestry activities focus on the direct management of estates in Sant Celoni, with silvicultural practices aimed at preserving and utilizing natural spaces. This work is complemented by extensive farming at Can Terrades, in Fuirosos, dedicated to organic sheep and goat production, contributing to the maintenance of the agroforestry mosaic and the landscape conservation of Montnegre and Baix Montseny.
Saurí also holds key positions in various sector associations, including the board of the Consorci Forestal de Catalunya, the Associació de Pastors del Montnegre i el Corredor, the Associació de Propietaris del Montnegre, and the vice-presidency of the Centre de la Propietat Forestal. Through these roles, he actively participates in the sustainable management of forests and farming, and collaborates in fire prevention through controlled grazing.
This land-based forestry and farming activity positions Sant Celoni as a municipality committed to the sustainable management of natural resources.
The official award ceremony will take place on Friday, October 23, 2026, at 10 AM at the Teatre Ateneu, during the opening of the Forest Week.
