A total of 13,598 contracts were formalized in the region in September, 4,403 more than in August. Following the summer decline, employment recovered with an almost 48% increase compared to the previous month. Compared to September 2025, an additional 1,168 contracts were registered, representing a 9.4% rise.
The growth is concentrated in permanent contracts, with 6,044 registrations in September, 847 more than a year ago (+16%). Temporary contracts show a more moderate trend. Permanent contracts now account for 44% of the total, nearly three percentage points higher than last year.
All contract types have grown compared to September 2025. Full-time contracts increased by 9% (698 more contracts), while part-time contracts grew by 9% (312 more contracts). Men account for a slightly larger share of the increase in full-time contracts.
Women represent 43.8% of the total employment (6,122 contracts), a figure higher than both the previous month and last year, although their relative share has slightly decreased compared to men.
At the municipal level, employment increased in most towns compared to the previous month, with notable relative growth in Bigues i Riells del Fai, Gualba, Lliçà d’Amunt, Sant Feliu de Codines, Sant Pere de Vilamajor, Vallgorguina, and Vallromanes. In absolute terms, Granollers (+719), Lliçà d’Amunt (+429), and Les Franqueses del Vallès (+329) lead the increases.
Compared to September 2025, 13 municipalities registered a decrease in employment. The most significant reductions occurred in Montmeló (-205) and Santa Eulàlia de Ronçana (-52). The most important relative increases were seen in Santa Maria de Martorelles (+150%), Vallromanes (+111%), and Lliçà d’Amunt (+105%).
In Catalonia, 256,815 contracts were signed in September, of which 47.6% were permanent. The total year-on-year increase in Catalonia is 8.3%.
