The main festival in Alió will begin tomorrow, August 20th, with the traditional ringing of bells. In the afternoon, the Church Square will host the 44th drawing contest, followed by a 'llangonissada' (sausage feast) and open-air cinema in the schoolyard.
The weekend will be packed with activities, including water inflatables and a foam party on Friday. In the evening, there will be a fellowship dinner with a magic show by Màgia Melanie and a DJ set by Sita Mossara.
On Saturday afternoon, a popular street parade will take place featuring the Ball de Gitanes and Ball de Cercolets de Valls, the local giants Bartomeu and Sebastiana, and the 'capgrossos' (big-heads). The day will continue with a concert and afternoon dance with the orchestra New Marabú, which will also perform a main festival night dance, followed by a DJ set by Calderay.
On Sunday, the Cor Femení Veus del Camp (Women's Choir Voices of the Field) will perform a concert in the Church of Sant Bartomeu, followed by a mass. In the afternoon, attendees can enjoy the itinerant performance Pirate Grogshow by the company Martini & Manzani. The evening will conclude with a traditional music show by the group Julivert and a 'correfoc' (fire run) with the Diables de Vilabella CAC La Murtrera.
The main festival will conclude on August 24th, the patron saint's day, with a midday service at the parish church and a popular vermouth. In the afternoon, the Association of Retirees and the Elderly will organize a face-painting session. The evening will feature a 'carmanyola' (packed lunch) dinner followed by the Alió Show activity, including the award ceremony for all contests.
