The Bombers de la Generalitat (Firefighters of Catalonia) are working this Wednesday on two new forest fires in the Vall de l'Infern (Hell Valley), in Querol (Alt Camp) and Pontons (Alt Penedès), which add to existing ones in the area.

The Vall de l'Infern, an area already hit by fire, has seen two new fires flare up during the day. These new outbreaks affect an area of 14 hectares, which, added to the previous 148 hectares burned, brings the total to 162 hectares destroyed by the flames.
The fire declared in Querol originated at 13:53 hours in two points close to previous perimeters. A rapid response from extinction teams, with up to 46 initial crews, prevented the flames from intensifying further. By 18:30 hours, the operation involved 32 crews, four of them aerial, and around a hundred personnel. Preliminary estimates suggest it affects about six hectares and is evolving favorably thanks to the initial attack and the collaboration of the Agrupacions de Defensa Forestal (ADF) (Forest Defense Groups).
The situation in Pontons also required the concentration of resources. The coincidence of both fires forced the Bombers to manage the simultaneity, redistributing personnel and aerial resources to attend to the different open fronts.
The accumulation of fires in the vicinity of Querol and Pontons raises concern due to the high dryness of the vegetation and adverse weather conditions, which favor the rapid spread of flames and the possibility of reactivations or new outbreaks.
Meanwhile, the Bombers continue to work on the fire in Rubió (Anoia), which was stabilized during the early morning but remains under surveillance to prevent recurrences.
