The average family expenditure in the Alt Camp region amounts to 3,137 euros per month, with significant differences between its municipalities, where housing accounts for almost a third of the budget.

A recent study has highlighted the disparity in the cost of living within the Alt Camp region, where family expenditure can vary by up to 15,000 euros annually depending on the municipality of residence. This analysis, based on official data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE), places the average household expenditure at 3,137 euros per month.
The data reveals an unequal economic reality. For example, while in La Riba a family needs nearly 4,000 euros per month (3,996 €) to cover their needs, in El Pont d'Armentera the figure drops to 2,753 euros. This difference of 1,243 euros per month underscores the influence of the place of residence on household economics.
In Valls, the capital of Alt Camp, the average household expenditure is 3,204 euros per month, exceeding the regional average. Housing has a considerable weight (1,055 euros per month), but other categories such as healthcare (122 euros), communications (95 euros), education (64 euros), and restaurants and accommodation (266 euros) also stand out.
Housing is confirmed as the main expenditure factor, absorbing almost a third of the family budget. On average, households in Alt Camp allocate 996.9 euros per month to concepts such as rent, mortgage, and utilities. Municipalities like Valls (1,055 €) and La Riba (1,233 €) are among the most expensive in this area, while El Pont d'Armentera or Querol show the lowest figures.
After housing, food (554 euros per month) and transport (379 euros per month) are the other major expenses, confirming that basic needs consume most of the family income. The study also indicates that municipalities such as Puigpelat, Vallmoll, or Figuerola del Camp are above the regional average, while Mont-ral or Querol remain among the most affordable.
