The Alt Camp region recorded a notable increase in electricity fraud during 2025, with 131 cases opened by Endesa and a total of 4,478,385 kWh defrauded, equivalent to the annual consumption of approximately 1,280 households.

Data provided by Endesa reveals an average of about 2.5 fraud cases per week in the region. This phenomenon is particularly concentrated in municipalities such as Valls, Cabra del Camp, Querol, la Masó, Alcover, and Aiguamúrcia.
Valls emerges as the main hotspot, with 63 cases and 1,527,696 kWh defrauded, representing over a third of the regional total. This volume marks a significant increase compared to 2024, when 36 cases and 606,767 kWh were recorded. A considerable portion of this fraud in Valls is linked to marijuana plantations; just four cases account for nearly 776,000 kWh, exceeding half of the energy defrauded in the municipality.
Other municipalities with relevant incidents include Cabra del Camp (6 cases, 575,492 kWh), Querol (6 cases, 477,923 kWh), and la Masó (3 cases, with one notable case related to marijuana). In Alcover and Aiguamúrcia, fraud is significant even without links to plantations, with 12 and 9 cases respectively.
The figures indicate growth not only in the number of cases but also in the volume of energy defrauded. While 1.6 million kWh were recorded in 2022, the figure has steadily risen to 4.5 million in 2025. This suggests a trend towards larger-scale frauds, concentrated among high-consumption entities like marijuana plantations or industrial and commercial activities.
