The Santa Cristina de Rodonyà urbanization will move away from its container system to adopt door-to-door collection by the end of the month, aiming to enhance recycling and economic efficiency.

Previously, waste management in the Santa Cristina de Rodonyà urbanization was carried out using containers, while the town of Rodonyà used a door-to-door system. This duality was due to the logistical challenges of scattered houses in the urbanization's wooded areas.
The main issue with the container system was their inadequacy for different waste fractions, leading to a significant increase in residual waste. This situation not only had an environmental impact due to insufficient recycling but also increased economic costs, as residual waste treatment is considerably more expensive than that of recyclable fractions.
Following a detailed economic study, the Rodonyà City Council has decided to unify the collection system in the urbanization, switching to the door-to-door model. This week, new bins have been distributed to households, and civic agents are informing residents about the new procedures and collection days for each fraction.
