The recurring connection outages in Campelles have exceeded the patience of residents and the Town Council. This situation limits the possibilities of living normally in the town and prevents the proper functioning of many essential services.
A video circulating on Whatsapps and social media shows a telephone connection pole held up solely by its cabling, highlighting the precarious state of the infrastructure. The video's author expresses disbelief at the situation in Estèguel, an area of Campelles.
The lack of maintenance of overhead lines, particularly since the recent storms, has consequences beyond simply checking the internet or messages. It hinders access to the most basic services of today's society.
“"It's not just about losing mobile phone coverage. It's about the elderly, in a region with an aging population... Here, the devices are useless, and if something happens to someone, they won't be able to call because there's no coverage."
The mayor of Campelles, Judit Cornellà, laments the situation, adding that they no longer know what to do. "We saw the fiber optic from the Provincial Council coming up, which could have solved something, and it turns out it stops at the Nacional road, because it can't be connected there. It seems like they are making fun of us," she states.
Faced with this issue, local authorities are demanding attention and a definitive improvement in connectivity conditions. The goal is to prevent the municipality from becoming a second-home destination and to combat depopulation, ensuring habitability standards comparable to the rest of the country.
