The city of Valls has celebrated the 18th edition of the 'El Barri en Flor' contest, an event that awards floral decoration in the public spaces and shops of the Old Town. The award ceremony took place in the City Hall's council chamber, with the presence of residents, winning merchants, and municipal authorities.
In the Best Shop category, the first prize went to “Masip” Estudi de fotografia, followed by “Ca l’Estevet” in second place. For the Best Street, Carrer Escrivania, represented by Amàlia Fontanillas, received the first award, while the street Pere Català i Pic, represented by Ana Maria Ruiz, was the second classified.
The Best Facade category recognized Maria Aubareda del Carme (Carrer del Carme 31) with the first prize, and Júlia Jofrè Oliva (Carrer del Carme 28) with the second.
For balconies, the Creative Balcony award honored Medir Cucurull (Carrer Metges, 5) and Maria Reyes Almazan (Carrer Forn Nou, 22). The Green Balcony category distinguished Enric Figures (Carrer St Antoni, 70) and Maria Encarnación Pérez Serrano (Carrer Forn Nou, 22).
The jury, composed of representatives from the Escola d’Art i Disseny de Tarragona, professional florists, Artistas de la Draperia, and the Unió de Botiguers Comerç de Valls, evaluated aspects such as the use of live natural plants and flowers, originality, and the design of the compositions.
This edition has highlighted the commitment and creativity of the participants in beautifying shared spaces. A special award was also given to the group of weavers from Vilaniu.
