This exhibition, produced by the Barcelona Museum of Natural Sciences, will be hosted weekly in different schools in Valls until June 15. The initiative is part of the awareness actions promoted by the Department of Equality and Feminisms to combat discrimination and defend the rights of the LGTBI+ community.
The proposal invites students to reflect on sexual diversity in the animal kingdom, moving away from stereotypes and often imposed social precepts. Through various panels, the exhibition encourages questioning preconceived ideas and broadening the view on sexuality, gender, and the multiple forms of relationships present in nature, seeking to understand different realities and identities.
The exhibition addresses questions such as the number of existing sexes, intersexuality, the need for more than one individual for reproduction, or the purpose of sexual relations. It also invites rethinking concepts like family or gender, offering an informative and accessible approach that highlights diversity as an inherent part of life. This pedagogical tool is valuable for fostering respect, inclusion, and coexistence in the educational environment.
This initiative contributes to dismantling discriminatory discourses and provides scientific references that help understand diversity as an intrinsic fact of life. It represents a particularly relevant opportunity to work with children and young people on values such as equality, respect for difference, and the construction of a more inclusive and prejudice-free society.
