The event, which is festive, popular, and gastronomic, is held on the last Sunday of January and pays tribute to the calçot, a product with a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI). The program includes parades, tasting markets, demonstrations of grilling calçots, and the participation of the local casteller (human tower) groups of Valls.
Among the most anticipated moments are the traditional contests: the Calçot Growers Contest, the Valls Calçot Sauce Contest, and the popular Calçot Eating Contest. These events attract visitors from across the region to the capital of Alt Camp.
A full day of tradition, popular culture, and festive atmosphere that consolidates the calçot as the gastronomic emblem of the capital of Alt Camp.
Visitors wishing to enjoy the authentic calçotada can purchase the Tasting Lot for 15 euros on the day of the festival. This lot includes 12 PGI Calçots de Valls, sauce from Salses Fruits, Sunset black wine from Domenio, bread, a bib, and a 2-for-1 ticket for the Museu Casteller de Catalunya.
Although online ticket sales have already sold out, interested parties can still purchase the Tasting Lot in person on January 25 at sales points such as the Plaça del Pati, the Valls City Council, and the Institut d’Estudis Vallencs. Additionally, there will be a bar service, live music, and grills available for cooking meat and sausage from Valls.
