Over a hundred people gathered in front of Valls Town Hall to greet the runners arriving from La Riba, after a stop in Picamoixons. In Valls, approximately 88 organizations have joined this initiative, spearheaded by the association Valls per la llengua.
The two local 'casteller' groups, Colla Joves and Colla Vella, performed two 'pilars de 4' as the flame and participants entered the square. Subsequently, a representative read the Correllengua manifesto, emphasizing the festive and assertive nature of the event.
“"This Correllengua is proof that Catalan society is tired of always having to defend itself and is ready to start taking steps forward for the full normalization of the Catalan language."
The manifesto underscored the language's importance as an element of brotherhood and identity, and called for the defense of linguistic rights. It advocated for a land where Catalan is an inclusive language, usable without fear, with more support for Catalan media, and quality public education in the language.
The day continued with nearly a hundred runners heading towards Alcover, aiming to conclude in Tarragona. There, in Plaça Verdaguer, the two flames that have traversed the Principality since April 19 were scheduled to meet, in an event designed to demonstrate society's appreciation and defense of the Catalan language.
