The Torroella de Montgrí Town Council closed the auction for the western half of Casa Salieti, designed by Rafael Masó in 1918 in L'Estartit, without receiving any purchase offers.

The property, located on the town's Passeig Marítim, was seized from the company Ferovor SL due to a debt of 157,903.42 euros owed to the council, mainly for unpaid Property Tax (IBI) between 2009 and 2024. The minimum bidding price was set at 728,145 euros.

"We are carrying out a process of sanitation of municipal finances and we need to recover that money."

Josep Martinoy · Finance Councillor of Torroella de Montgrí
The Finance Councillor, Josep Martinoy, explained that the auction was the last resort after accelerating the collection process to reduce delinquency levels. The property, valued at 969,841 euros, allows for residential, hotel, commercial, or restaurant use.
The original building was commissioned by businessman Joan Salieti and was designed as two semi-detached single-family homes under one roof. The auctioned western half housed the Robert restaurant for many years. The Town Council will now study the next steps, including the possibility of lowering the price or re-auctioning the property.
